The Myths of Science

We all need help to increase our self healing abilities. This is still a vast untapped resource within us. The potential within you is vast. Most of us are hardly tapping much of it.

Why?

One of the biggest road blocks to expanding your effectiveness in self healing body mindfulness I believe, is how we (myself included) from the day we were born, have been indoctrinated by science. This has become subconscious for most of us and is a huge hidden cultural belief system in western countries.

“Contemporary science is based on the claim that all reality is material or physical. There is no reality but material reality. Consciousness is a by-product of the physical activity of the brain. Matter is unconscious. Evolution is purposeless. God exists only as an idea in human minds, and hence in human heads.”
(Rupert Sheldrake, The Science Delusion, 2012)

I talk a lot about the hold of the intellect and it’s hindrance in self healing in this blog. This intellect has been indoctrinated by the old beliefs of science which most scientists have never seriously questioned.

If you want more help, to break this block further I highly recommend Rupert Sheldrake book above. This is a brilliant scientist. He break the ten myths that science still believes are true. When in lived experience we know today, that they are not.

Rupert gave a TED talk on this topic some years ago and guess what? The talk was banned from the TED website! This is how threatened current old-school scientist were. TED talks are always on the edge and push the boundaries of what we have known. “Ideas worth spreading” their catch cry. So when I heard about this ban, I immediately thought we must have a real pioneer here. So I checked him out and I was right.

Check out his ex TED talk on YouTube here, (1.5m views) it’s freely available. This is brilliant pioneering scientific myth breaking and it will help your intellect and mind free up even more.

Disconnection from your Body can cause so much Misery

It never ceases to amaze me when a client has a problem (health/habit/phobia/limitation//trauma/psychological etc), that it can be changed rapidly just by bringing the focus into the body while the head is still trying to work it all out (the old way.)

Some words of wisdom that can save you a lot of time, drama, pain, money and effort….

In my experience, if something isn’t working in your life, chances are you have disconnected from your body and have left your poor head/intellect all on its own to try to work it all out for you.

When this intellect process tries harder – thinking more to try to solve the problem – you begin to create the racing mind phenomenon where your poor brain is overworking (thrashing) for very little result.

The more thoughts you need to solve an issue, the more stressed your system is and badly in need of a tune up. At some point, (when you are finally over it) it becomes time to clean up all the unfinished programs in your head that are still running, clogging up your ability to think in a straight line and doing so within a clear space in your head.

Thankfully body mindfulness offers a big key to be able to do this. And you can do this at home in a body mindfulness meditation practice. My body mindfulness class is designed to help you do this for yourself each day and then more intensely when you need something more focused.

I also recommend giving yourself this mind/body tune up with a therapist each year too, with a number of one-on-one private sessions. This helps to speed things up much more. Of course I practice what I preach and I do this myself every year. It makes a huge difference, as you prune all the old unfinished thoughts and issues still whizzing around in your head taking up unnecessary space and energy.

So why don’t people do this more often? One of the biggest reasons is that they think there isn’t a problem until they go inside and find just what is still running in there, subconsciously. That can be a bit of a shock to realise how much of your effort internally is inefficient and clogged with unfinished traumas which you thought you had resolved.

So I have learned over the years to never wait for a problem to surface. I do the work regularly and clear it out before it becomes a problem. You will always find things lurking in your subconscious that are building and are problems in waiting. So do this practice for yourself regularly, ideally daily, and have a series of sessions regularly each year for the deeper stuff. Do it no matter what and you will notice a big difference.

Your life will run smoother, you will feel more in the flow and present. Drama drops off. Your health improves. You age slower and you think with more peace in your head as the thrashing of your thinking clears.

If the body is not at peace the mind is not at peace

If the body is not at peace the mind is not at peace.

Your body has a very big influence on your mind. More than what most people realise. A lot of it is subconscious, below the level of your awareness. With body mindfulness work you can access more of this deeper awareness, bring it into light and help it release.

When you go deeper what often arises is repressed buried emotions, feelings that are unresolved, unfinished. These unfinished feelings are there because you couldn’t deal with them at the time. So your mind labels them out of bounds, they become a no-go zone in your body. This no-go zone creates a stress in your body in its attempt to keep them locked away. Over time if they are not released they turn into physical pain, and longer term, become chronic pain.

So much of our chronic pain in our bodies are actually repressed emotions.

Release the emotion and the physical pain disappears. The majority of the medical community will still not acknowledge this proven fact and it doesn’t matter, as long as you believe it and do the work to access and release.

I’ve seen this happen time and time again in my private practice. And of course I’ve experienced it in myself too, over and over again.

I highly recommend reading Dr John E Sarno’s books. A good one is Healing Back Pain – The Mind Body Connection.

Changing your Deep Subconscious Auto-Pilot Habits

“Our brain captures the strategies that work to keep us safe, connected and respected as possible in our early life environment, and then puts those behaviors on autopilot.”
(Amanda Blake, Your Body is Your Brain, 2018)

The behaviours you have that are on autopilot are hard to change because they have been buried deep down very efficiently. They are on autopilot so that they can run automatically when needed without thought.

When you need to be safe and connected, you don’t want to have to think it all through. Stopping to think for too long can be the difference between life and death, or connection and no connection with others.

So how do you change something that’s deep and not part of your conscious thinking intellect? You need to turn inward and put the intellect into the back seat for a while. Body Mindfulness work helps you to do this. You scale back the rate of thinking by focusing on your inner body, mostly from the neck down, away from the seat of the intellect. That brings you closer to the automatic patterns that you deemed early on as the best way to live.

I like Amanda Blake’s explanation of the there brains. The lower Cerebellum Brain is geared for safety. The middle Limbic Brain is geared for emotional connection with people and the Cerebrum (top brain intellect) is geared for Respect. This gearing or wiring are strategies that are on autopilot were created long ago, mostly in childhood.

Things change as you grow up and into adulthood. But very often these deeper autopilot patterns do not update. What burned them in place was so strong (probably traumatic) that you decided there is no way you are going to let that affect you in that way again. So that patterns is locked in deep to protect you. To keep you safe. To keep you connected and to keep you respected by people.

Facing Resistance

My classes, workshops, courses and individual sessions that people attend, aim to create a safe place where a person can spend some quality time contacting what’s ticking away inside them subconsciously which affects their daily life, behaviours and health in very big ways.

I recently read a book recommended by a colleague, titled ‘Turning Pro’. It’s a simple easy to read book. In it the author talks about the difference between an amateur and a professional in life.

A quote from the book:
“Resistance hates two qualities above all others: concentration and depth. Why? Because when we work with focus and we work deep, we succeed. Resistance wants to keep us shallow and unfocused. So it makes the superficial and the vain intoxicating.”

Mindfulness Meditation and Body Based inner work gives you time to concentrate and go deep. Without depth and focus it is difficult to accomplish anything of substance that you feel satisfied with. True satisfaction comes from your inner spirit, your soul. Contacting this inner spirit part of you from your intellect alone cannot normally produce the depth required. It can only simulate.

A lot of people go through life simulating and never really facing their resistance.
You need to face your resistance in order to go deeper and become more healthier and authentic.

Facing resistance can arise when you are avoiding going somewhere you know is good for you, events of substance. Feel your resistance, the part that’s giving you all the reasons not to go. This is a good sign – for you are now going deeper and accessing old out dated programs that are not assisting you to live effectively today.

Feel them and be with them. Don’t try to change them, don’t judge them and don’t hate them. Accept that they are there right now and take the risk to allow them to release in the way that they didn’t get the chance to, when they were first formed. If this is too difficult to do alone, then seek out a therapist that can keep you safe, deep and focused long enough for this release to occur.

The ‘Magic’

I’m continually impressed and satisfied (even after over twenty years) with the results that this work creates for people and the one-on-one clients that I see during the week.

That old habit of analysing things and trying to work it out in the head, once that is put to bed, the real healing begins to take place, or as some clients call it, ‘the magic happens’.

And to the intellect this does some like magic, because ‘it’ isn’t doing the work. It feels automatic and so it is labeled  ‘magic’. But as I mentioned to one client this week, we don’t go around every moment of the day thinking that our heart beating is magic. We forget about it, we take it for granted. We forget just how sophisticated our subconscious bodymind is. Then in sessions when we turn it back onto your inner needs and goals, more of that magic kicks in and it seems amazing.

I’m continually excited when I make more breakthroughs in this method, advance the work further (even more so currently with the research and writing of my first book – to be released soon) and especially when I help people that have ‘tried everything’, as I often hear.

There is a very deep reward in this work, a very deep feeling of being and depth to the soul that opens up that is nourished in sessions, that also beautifully, spills over onto myself. This is such a healing and enlivening state, everyone should be feeling this at least once in their day.

It helps to keep you young, free, happier and healthier in mind, body and spirit. Its a sipping (or even better, drinking) of the life force that permeates you all day and everyday.

It speeds up healing and it works wonders for your health!

Subconscious Conflicts – Road Blocks to your Goals

Do you have trouble achieving your goals?

Achieving goals is a step at a time process. Making decisions in each moment that are aligned with your aims. However the subconscious within you is also trying to get its needs and aims met. Many of them set a long time ago (from childhood).

So often those aims are in conflict with your present day goals and wishes. So you have road blocks within you. Your subconscious often will not allow you to achieve your aims (whether they are career, financial, relationship or health related) unless its  more urgent needs are met.

This work provides the conditions to help you resolve the subconscious needs within you, helping to heal your subconscious body, freeing the way to achieving your deepest goals and wishes.

This cannot be done consciously. It requires involving your body, emotions and spirit at a deeper level. This deeper level is the mindfulness, alpha/theta frequency level of your mind and body. Working at this level allows for the real changes and releases to occur.

This has been my expertise and specialty for the last 21 years. Helping people access areas deep within their subconscious body where the conflict and forgotten, unmet needs reside.

Fighting with this part doesn’t work.
Drugging it is not the answer either.

It is a real unfinished need, deep within you. And it is waiting to be heard, met and healed.
